On August 20 and 21, downtown Brooklyn provided the LGBTQ community a safe space to geek out at the second annual FlameCon. Attendees descended upon the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott to get their fill of fan-crafted merchandise and to discuss everything from representation in nerdy media to their favorite fanfiction. Saturday afternoon began with a panel simply titled "Self-Publishing," moderated by King Features Syndicate’s editorial project manager Tea Fougner, dressed up like X-Men’s Emma Frost.
